Howdy from High Lonesome Radio, Silver City, NM!!!
Hey y'all,
My name's Tater Todd. I am new to this site. I work at an Americana radio station in Silver City, NM: hub of the mining district in the southwest bootheel of the state. KSIL is owned by a guy who worked at KLBJ and others for years. He's retiring here, and started this FM station a year ago. I already had a great love for Americana music (especially the Austin variety) from growing up in Fort Worth and seeing folks like Slaid Cleaves, Robert Earl Keene, Ray Wylie Hubbard, etc., etc. Luckily, we are often visited by Austin talent in spite of being way off the beaten path. I got to see Eric Hisaw and his friend Chrissy Flatt perform at our little brewpub a few weeks back. Slaid Cleaves played here this year, as well as Terri Hendrix with Lloyd Maynes. We have a two-day bluesfest here annually in May. Lots of great talent at that event, including a homegrown performer you may have heard of: Anna Eggy.
People often ask me: "Your station's music is kind of country, right?" I tell them, "It's real country, not the Nashville pop. Ya see, there's a civil war going on between Austin and Nashville, etc." Just want to connect with other folks who like this style of music. Glad I found y'all!
Todd
